About Us
Special Olympics BC – North Shore is a non-profit sport organization and we have been providing intellectually disabled individuals the opportunity to enhance their lives and celebrate personal achievement through positive sport experiences (training and competition) for 31 years.

Overview of the Role
As a grassroots, volunteer-based organization, SOBC – North Shore relies on the support and dedication of our volunteers (coaches, administrators and event volunteers) in order to fulfill our mandate. This person will assist the Volunteer Coordinator in the recruiting process, administrative functions and volunteer communications for the local.

Responsibilities
 Maintain communication with executive members, volunteers, coaches and SOBC staff;
 Recruit volunteers on an on-going basis;
 Share best practices with SOBC staff so that others may learn from your successes;
 Be an advocate of Special Olympics volunteer opportunities within our community;

and following through with the following specific duties:
 Keep a record of participants paperwork, ensure registration is complete including criminal record checks for new volunteers;
 Connect new volunteer’s with appropriate head coaches;
 Identify volunteer needs within our team and work to recruit volunteers;
 Support the Registration Coordinator on your executive in their efforts to complete the annual registration update for SOBC.

Qualifications
 Previous recruiting related experience or HR interest an asset;
 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships;
 Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal;
 Detail oriented individual with superior organizational skills;
 Ability to manage time and adhere to strict deadlines.

Hours/time commitment
10 hours/month
