Who are we?
First Steps Wellness Centre (FSWC) is a not-for-profit spinal cord injury recovery facility. FSWC has already established a strong reputation in Regina, Saskatchewan and helps countless people on their journey to recovery. Now, this successful project is coming to Greater Vancouver so even more individuals can work toward their recovery goals. We will be at 115-1231 Burdette Street in Richmond, BC.
What we Do
FSWC clients intensively workout one-on-one below their level of injury with a certified trainer in our facility. The exercises are provided in a safe, clean, accessible, and positive environment. Trainers all hold degrees in fields like Kinesiology, Sports Science, and Physiology. Furthermore, they are provided supplementary hands-on training in FSWC Regina to receive our certification. The facility is well-equipped with sophisticated equipment specified to the needs of our injured clients.
The goals of FSWC are the same as the goals for our clients. We aim to improve the quality of life for those living with a spinal cord injury through the integration of exercise-based recovery methods, education, and support services. In exchange for hard work, clients may see many positive changes in the following ways:
- Reduced Spasticity
- Reduced Pain
- Prevention of Muscular Atrophy
- Recovery of Lost Movement
- Improved Mental Health
We are opening our doors this December and volunteers are needed to help us grow and strive in this community. Invaluable job experience will be provided to help you achieve your career goals and hopefully join us as a permanent staff member one day so that we can make a difference together. Please phone in or email us if you are interested.
