MASTER'S DEGREE COMPLETION
Normal progress from graduate admission to completion of the required course work is three to four terms of study with an additional term for the completion of a thesis or graduating paper. Students are expected to complete all requirements for the Master's degree within two academic years of full-time study.
PROGRAM OUTLINE & PROGRESS REPORT
The deadline for annual Program Outline & Progress Report is February 1 of each year. The goal is to encourage reflections on how the year is going so far, assess progress on goals, and raise/address any issues or concerns -- and support our attempts to track student progress through the program more generally.
We encourage students to fill out the brief form (MA/MSc form, MKin form) and set up meetings with their supervisors to discuss the draft. Supervisors and students are both asked to sign the form. We encourage supervisors and students to keep a copy of the form, and to submit the form (hard copy or electronically) to kin.gradsec@ubc.ca.
TUITION FEES
The UBC Calendar provides information regarding current tuition fees for the School’s master’s degree programs. Masters students are assessed fees as full-time students. Candidates pursuing part-time study must apply for the four-year schedule of payments. Candidates making this selection are advised that they are ineligible to receive government loans, interest-free status and University Fellowships or Scholarships. Students holding UBC scholarships will have their tuition fees deducted directly from scholarship payments. The first installment of tuition fees for new students must be paid by the beginning of the first month of the term for which the student is registering. Additional tuition fee information is available at the above Website.
FULL-TIME VERSUS PART-TIME STUDIES
Although it is strongly recommended for all students to undertake full-time study, the Master's program may also be undertaken on a part-time basis.
APPLYING WITHOUT A KINESIOLOGY BACHELOR'S DEGREE
Applicants with an undergraduate degree other than Kinesiology will receive serious consideration, particularly if undergraduate or other experiences provide a strong relationship to Kinesiology.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR FULL ADMISSION
A background of appropriate undergraduate courses is expected for the area of graduate study chosen.
