Status: Casual (on-call)
Start Date: February 2017
Salary: $17.75 per hour
Hours: 0900-1700 (Monday-Thursday), 0930-1700 (Friday)

We are seeking a dedicated individual wishing to expand their work experience/ knowledge in both Kinesiology and Recreational Therapy for the people we provide care for.Job Highlights:

  • As part of a multidisciplinary team and in consultation with the on-site Physiotherapist, provides input into the planning, implementation, modification, and evaluation of the rehabilitative treatment plan/program.
  • Carries out designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan and/or program, such as activities of daily living, mobility, strengthening and balance exercises, recreation and/or communication therapy.
  • Assist residents to and from recreation programs.
  • Assist in the planning and organization of recreation programs such as sports, music therapy, fitness etc.
  • Participate in the supervision of volunteers and students.
  • Prepare areas for each program, maintain recreation equipment and keep areas clean, tidy and safe.
  • Develop and deliver promotional/educational calendars, newsletters, and flyers


  • Completed or continued education in Kinesiology or Rehabilitation Assistant
  • Certifications in CPR and First Aid
  • Recent, related work or volunteer experience in either Rehabilitation or Recreation services is an asset
  • Computer literacy and knowledge is an asset (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English
  • Must be in good health and have the physical capabilities that are compatible with walking, bending and lifting residents, recreation equipment, moving furniture and assisting residents to sit, stand or walk.

  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and deliver group activities
    Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize, analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with residents

Together with exceptional interpersonal skills and respect for the residents you work with, your knowledge of Acquired Brain Injuries, Multiple Sclerosis and Huntington’s Disease makes you the ideal candidate. Hours/time commitment

Successful applicant will be scheduled on a on-call basis to cover any sick calls, vacation etc. Open availability is beneficial.

Hours of operation for our Department:
0900-1700 (Monday-Thursday, Weekends), 0930-1700 (Friday)
