Job description

Special Olympics BC – Vancouver needs an intermediate to experienced Cross Country skier to take on the role of Head Coach as well as some Program Volunteers to help out with the program. The coach will be working with a wonderful group of athletes who love the sport of Cross Country Skiing. The head coach is responsible for revising a training program and implementing lesson plans that fit each athlete and help the athletes progress to the best they can be, and the program volunteers support the coach in running a fun, safe, and successful program.

You will have the opportunity to complete your Special Olympics Canada NCCP – Competition Sport Workshop. We also have a variety of resources online and provide support through Provincial Office and other existing experienced volunteers. Volunteer with other like minded people and the opportunity to get outside and have fun! Make friends and know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Requires a criminal record check.

Experience and knowledge in X-Country Skiing is a must. Some coaching experience would be an asset, but not necessary for the experienced skier with some competitive background. Of course, patience and enthusiasm would be much appreciated!

Hours/time commitment

We ask for a minimum one year commitment. Training takes place weekly on Sundays from 7:15am – 12:00pm at Cypress Mountain and run from January 2018 – March 2018.
