Job description

Male individual with FSH type of Muscular Dystrophy currently using a scooter needs assistance going to the West Vancouver Aquatic Center pool on Mondays and Fridays.

We usually arrive at the pool at noon and go to the family changing room. In there, using the ceiling lift and sling individual is transferred from the scooter to a pool wheelchair. From this point the assistant will perform the following tasks:

Takes the individual with the wheelchair into the leisure pool, where he gets off the wheelchair and does exercise in the pool for 90 minutes (He walks in the pool with assistance and swims with help). At this point individual gets back on the wheelchair and assistant gets him out of the pool and into the steam room for 10 minutes, after which they head back to the family change room.

We need an experienced person who knows how to assist people with physical disabilities or a fast learner to help during that 2 hours. $25/hour.

I am 5’8” tall and weight 175 lb.

Hours/time commitment

Mondays and/or Fridays 12 to 2 pm.
