BODYWORKS SUMMER TERM UPDATE- JUNE 2

Dear Clients and Members,

We hope that everyone is doing well and staying healthy. Thank you for your continued patience as we monitor our programming options and schedule with respect to COVID-19.

As schools, restaurants, and other personal service businesses begin to transition to re-opening, the same is happening within the fitness industry. We understand the frustration of seeing multiple places open, however, the university is taking a more cautious, slower approach to phase-in activity than that of the Province rolled out in the community centers under WorkSafe BC guidelines.

We are currently working on a School plan for returning to our regular programming. Our direction will come from the Provost-level down through individual units such as the School of Kinesiology. We are working assiduously on this and will be keeping all members and patrons of BodyWorks informed as we progress.

ONLINE PILOT PROGRAM

In order to try and provide community and support during this time, BodyWorks is looking at offering pilot online group exercise classes, in addition to 1 on 1 private training. As we want to receive feedback and suggestions from our members, there will be a poll sent out to you by mid June. We appreciate your participation in this survey so that we can best address your interests and preferences.

BODYWORKS SPRING/SUMMER TERM UPDATE-APRIL 9

Dear Members and Participants,

We hope that everyone has been staying healthy and spending time at home with loved ones during these difficult times.

Thank you for your continued patience as we monitor our Spring and Summer term programming schedule with respect to COVID-19.

Given the current climate of uncertainty we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Spring term programs that were scheduled to run from May – June, 2020.

An update regarding the Summer term, which runs from July – August, will be sent in late May. This will include any potential registration or cancellation details for Summer Classes.

Please continue to refer to this page for any updated information.

At Home Exercises & Resources for all Members:

We would also like to recognize that cancelling programs decreases your access to physical exercise and social connection amongst other BodyWorks Members. To support you in continuing your daily movement regime, our staff have put together an at home Workout Program: BodyWorks At Home Exercises

As of right now, we are exploring options for online activities and will remain in contact as this develops! In the mean time, we have provided links to Organizations that are currently offering online exercise options. You can use canned goods for dumbells, and also can access online ordering sites such as Amazon for resistant bands.

BODYWORKS UPDATE-MARCH 30

Dear Members and Participants,

Thank you for your continued patience as we monitor the situation with respect to COVID-19.

As you know, we cancelled all of our Winter term programs and classes as a preventative measure to help ensure the safety of our clients and public. All passes have been extended or put on pause until further notice.

BodyWorks still remains closed and will continue to be closed throughout April.

We are currently assessing our facility operations with respect to a re-opening date. To ensure we are considering all measures, the decision for closure for May/June will be decided mid-April.

Registration for Spring (May/June) is currently under evaluation for postponing. These details will be provided mid-April.

An update regarding passes: we are currently offering the following two options for passes:

  • You may leave the credit on your account and apply the value on any BodyWorks service or program in future terms
  • You may request a refund by credit card. If you would like to do so, you must:
    1. Send an email to kin.outreach@ubc.ca
    2. Please include your full name, the pass/passes you’d like a refund for and your phone number.
    3. We will call back all clients to process the refund over the phone
    4. Due to the volume of clients and extenuating circumstances resulting in reduced office hours, please expect a minimum of several business days for a phone call; we will not reply directly to each email

The safety of our community including members, students, and staff continues to be our utmost priority. As the situation is quite fluid, we will keep everyone updated as things progress and if there is a need for further changes.
