Job description

We are Team Performance Volleyball Club (TPVC), a not-for-profit, competitive volleyball club for girls aged 11 through 16, operating out of the South Surrey / White Rock area. TPVC is seeking any interested personnel to join our club. We have openings for head coaches, assistant coaches, fitness training experts, and nutrition experts. These opportunities would be perfect for those considering a career as a personal trainers, Physical Education teacher, or kinesiologist.

Head Coach duties include planning, heading, and running practices with the support of assistant coaches and youth mentors.

Assistant Coach duties are flexible in nature. Working in conjunction with the head coach, assistants can run practices, provide feedback to staff and athletes, and support in any or all other areas of team management.

Fitness training experts would teach young athletes in areas such as conditioning, stretching, prehab, plyometric activities, strength, speed, agility and flexibility training, mental training, and injury prevention.

Nutrition experts would teach young athletes about proper nutrition and suggest foods for competition days.
TPVC teams may run with smaller or larger team of staff, depending on staff schedules. Each time ideally employs one head coach and two assistant coaches.

Head coaches and assistant coaches need to be Coaching Level 1 certified (TVPC will cover certification cost) as well as Criminal Records Check. Other positions require a Criminal Records Check.

TPVC offers a fair remuneration based on the level of commitment and time availability.

Hours/time commitment

The youth volleyball club season runs from January through May, 2019. Our teams normally practice 3 days a week in the evening, 1.5 hours each practice. Teams will play between 8-10 weekends over the course of the season, mostly on Saturdays only. Some tournaments require a Saturday-Sunday commitment.

TPVC is flexible. Ideally, coaching staff is available for all days, times, and events, but having a team of personnel will always help when someone is not available. Generally speaking, the time commit would range in the following:

Head Coaches: 3 days a week coaching practice, 1.5 hours each practice, plus weekend tournaments spread out over 5 months.

Assistant Coaches: Part-time or full-time, up to 3 days a week of practice, 1.5 hours each practice, plus weekend tournaments.
Fitness Training Experts: Completely flexible. Typically team training can be done ranging from once a week to twice a month, as much as one’s schedule may allow.

Nutrition Experts: Completely flexible. Sessions can be run as much as one’s schedule might allow.
