Share your story of how your degree helped you get to where you are today!
Our students want to hear your story and learn from your journey. Throughout the year, we hold various events that allow alumni to come back and speak to current students, sharing pieces of advice, tips and generally sharing their story about life after graduation. Below are some of the events that happen throughout the year. If you are interested in getting involved please contact your Alumni Engagement Officer.
Alumni Speaker Panel
Every year the Kinesiology Undergraduate Society holds their annual Career Fair Week which usually happens in mid February. In conjunction with Career Fair Week we hold an alumni speaker panel in which we ask alumni to come back and share their story with keen students looking to the future. This is set up in a panel fashion of four to five alumni from various industries – allowing each person to briefly share their story. Afterwards we open up the floor to a casual Q & A with the students followed by a mix and mingle. If you are interested in this opportunity to give back, please let us know and we will provide you with more information.
Kinesiology Undergraduate Society (KUS) Last Lecture
No graduation is complete without the Last Lecture! The last lecture is an opportunity for graduating Kinesiology Students to have one last inspirational and motivational last lecture before leaving university. Each year the KUS is in charge of planning this event including bringing the speaker on board. Last Lecturers can range from community members to kinesiology professors to professional athletes to kinesiology alumni. Past lecturers have included Professor Bill Sheel and captain of the Vancouver Whitecaps, Jay Demerit. Each year the KUS looks for unique alumni that may have an inspirational story to tell the graduating class. If you would like to share your story, please let us know.
Kinesiology Mentorship Wrap-up Keynote Speaker
The Kinesiology Mentorship Program is an eight-month program running from October to March that pairs senior Kinesiology students with Kinesiology alumni mentors. Over this period they work together, learning from one another and helping the student be better prepared for life after university. At the end of the program, in March, a final wrap-up dinner event is held to thank everyone for being involved. As a way to tie the whole program together, we bring in an alumni keynote speaker to share their lessons and story with both the students and alumni mentors. If you would like to speak to the kinesiology mentorship group, please let us know.
