Semi-Private Training

Semi-private training is designed to maximize coaching, personalize your training and increase your rate of improvement without the cost of personal training. Clients will work with a certified BodyWorks trainer in a one-on-one fitness assessment in order to build their individualized exercise program. Next, they book two to three sessions per week in the BodyWorks gym when they will come in and complete their exercise program with guidance from a BodyWorks trainer. These sessions can be attended by up to 3 semi private training clients per BodyWorks trainer.

Features:

  • Individualized training plans will incorporate exercises for musculoskeletal and cardiovascular health and can have additional focuses on posture, balance and agility based on the client’s fitness assessment and goals
  • Sessions are bundled into 8 to 12 sessions spread over four to six weeks in order to maximize progress towards the client’s goals
  • Clients can coordinate with friends or family members in order to book partner workouts. Please inquire with BodyWorks registration staff if you are interested in booking a small group training session with greater than 3 participants.

Pricing:

  • $320 for 1 hour, 8 sessions
  • $480 for 1 hour, 12 sessions

To Prepare to Register:

  • Please review the Term Schedule tab below for days and times of when Semi-Private sessions are offered.
  • You must be able to attend two or three sessions per week within the listed days and times.
  • Please read our FAQ found here
  • Create an Online Account in our Online Registration System. Please be sure your account is active and ready to use

How to Register?

  • Submit an online Get Active Questionnaire or visit/call the Osborne Registration Office at 604-822-0207
  • We will contact you with instructions on next steps
  • A fitness assessment will be required prior to joining the program

For active Semi-Private participants, register for a session:

Mind in Motion

Mind in Motion is an evidence-based exercise program for UBC students with depressive symptoms. This 6-week exercise program includes two one-hour sessions per week. The exercise programming includes a range of strength and aerobic exercises, and is tailored towards the student’s goals.

*A referral from a mental health practitioner at UBC Counselling services is required to participate in Mind in Motion.

Features:

  • Exercise is recognized in Canada as a front-line treatment for mild-to-moderate depression. This program offers a safe, evidence based treatment option for students in a supportive environment.
  • Exercise can help to boost confidence and to feel in control of your own health.
  • Participation in this program can co-occur with other treatment options (e.g. medication or talk therapy)
  • Personal trainers have received additional training on mental health literacy.
