Kinesiology Peer Academic Coaching (KPAC)

Kinesiology Peer Academic Coaches are available to meet with you for one-on-one coaching conversations by appointment or during their drop-in hours in the Coaching Space, located on the third floor of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre. Appointments can be requested by emailing kpac.coaching@gmail.com from September to March.

The Kinesiology Peer Academic Coaching (KPAC) Program is a peer leadership program that supports and enhances the undergraduate student learning experience. The program is run by a team of dedicated volunteer student leaders who help their Kinesiology peers navigate their academic journey.

Kinesiology Peer Academic Coaches are friendly, inclusive, and knowledgeable upper-year Kinesiology students who know what it’s like to study and learn in Kinesiology. Through one-on-one coaching conversations and the delivery of targeted study sessions, they aim to provide fellow Kinesiology students with strategies and resources to improve their academic experience.

Peer coaches can confidently and knowledgeably assist peers in the following areas:

  • Study strategies
  • Prioritization and time
  • How to approach an academic task
  • Ways to get involved on campus

Weekly drop-in hours at the Chapman Learning Commons

Tuesdays: 11:30am-3:30pm

Wednesdays: 12:00-4:00pm

Thursdays: 2:00-4:30pm

KIN-nect Program:

By participating in the KIN-nect Mentorship Program, you will be paired with a Kinesiology Peer Academic Coach who will meet with you on an ongoing basis throughout the term. Participants are asked to meet with their coach three times throughout the term and will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the program.

Each meeting will have a particular focus, but the content of the conversation will ultimately be driven by you, the coachee:

  • Meeting 1: Getting to know your coach
  • Meeting 2: Setting SMART goals
  • Meeting 3: Wrap-up and looking ahead

Term 1 registration is now closed – check back in January for term 2 registration.
