Welcome back to your UBC Community! We invite you to continue to be ACTIVE!
Imagine the power of a community of people united by a common bond and mutual commitment to helping one another succeed. That’s the potential of the UBC KIN Alumni Network.
Our community celebrates both “minds and motion.” We are strengthened and enriched by our partnerships with the community beyond the School’s walls, and these connections are of tremendous benefit to our students. For alumni and community members, there are many ways for you to contribute to student development – and yours – as professionals in the vast scope of kinesiology.
Since its foundation in 1946, the School has had an extraordinary impact through its graduates on shaping the identity of British Columbians through physical activity in all its forms. Over the last 75 years, our alumni community has contributed immensely to the culture of active living for which BC is famous.
The School has evolved to become one of the most interdisciplinary programs at UBC. And as a result, our community is rich and diverse – with impacts on health care delivery, chronic disease and injury prevention, physical literacy in children, understanding balance deficits among society’s elder population, international diplomacy and how to help Canada’s athletes and coaches optimize their performance, improving the health of people in marginalized communities, socio-cultural issues – disability, mental health, Indigenous health, sexual abuse, the effects of social media and pop culture, gender identity, sustainability, and inclusion.
The strength of any alumni department is dependent on the enthusiasm of its members—you! We invite your participation in the future of the School of Kinesiology. We want you to stay active and connected!
