November 8th is a memorial day observed annually in Canada in recognition of aboriginal contributions to military service, particularly in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War.
The day was first commemorated in 1994. Prior to that year, Indigenous veterans were not recognized in Remembrance Day activities.
UBC School of Kinesiology wants to honour all of the First Nation, Metis, and Inuit military veterans for their services in the Canadian military forces and their sacrifices in the armed conflicts Canada has fought in.
