UBC School of Kinesiology’s Master of High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership kicked off this week with its third-ever cohort.
Maria Gallo, Program Director, notes, “This year we are welcoming a diverse group of very experienced coaches and technical leaders from water sports like sailing, surfing, and swimming; to racquet sports like badminton and tennis; and to more main stream sports like soccer, track & field and basketball. The program is also becoming more international as well with a few American students and one from the Caribbean”.
The program is a three year, 30 credit specialized program for experienced sport coaches and technical leaders who are looking to advance in their careers.
Maria adds, “We’re extremely excited to see this program expand and contribute to creating better athletes (para and able) that will one day represent Canada. We have grown from the inaugural cohort and continue to challenge these grad students with the newest evidence-based data to improve the way they lead their sports programs”.
