Supplemental Degree Options

Enhance your BKIN journey by considering tailoring your electives in order to meet the requirements for a Minor, engage in a student exchange, or embarking on a Dual Degree program. These avenues provide unique opportunities to broaden your academic and cultural perspectives, fostering adaptability and contributing to a well-rounded education.

A Minor allows for specialization in a complementary area, while a student exchange program introduces global perspectives. Opting for a Dual Degree integrates two disciplines, offering a comprehensive skill set. These choices not only enrich your academic experience but also prepare you for the dynamic professional landscape of Kinesiology, positioning you as a versatile and competitive professional in the field.

Minor Programs

Completing a Minor is entirely optional and offers you the opportunity to delve deeper into a specific subject beyond Kinesiology. Minors can provide complementary skills and foster interdisciplinary thinking, or simply dive into a completely unrelated field of study that you are passionate about. They offer a flexible way to explore academic interests without committing to a full major and can serve as preparation for advanced studies or specific career paths.

Minor programs generally require students to complete a minimum of 18 upper-level credits (percentage-graded). Requirements for Minor programs cannot be taken for Credit/D/Fail standing, and careful planning is important to making sure you are aware of the prerequisites for many of the upper-level courses (300/400-level) in each Minor program:

Minor in Arts

An acceptable program must comprise courses in the Faculty of Arts that are for credit towards a Bachelor of Arts degree and consists of 18 upper-level credits in a single subject field or specialization. Students should design a coherent, academically sound course of studies for their program Minor, which must be approved by the Kinesiology Undergraduate Advising office once you are in third year standing. All courses must be acceptable for a Bachelor of Arts Major in the proposed subject area or field, but a student is not bound by the other requirements that the Faculty of Arts sets for a Major or Minor in the field.

Minor in Science

An acceptable program must comprise courses recognized in the Faculty of Science that are for credit towards a Bachelor of Science degree and consist of at least 18 upper-level credits (300/400-level) in a single subject field or specialization, together with any prerequisites. Students should design a coherent and academically sound course of studies for their proposed minor, which must be approved by the Kinesiology Undergraduate Advising Office once you are third year standing. All courses must be acceptable for a Science Major in the proposed subject area or field. In addition, the following courses can be used for credit towards a Minor in Science focused on Biology: CAPS 301, CAPS 390, CAPS 391, FNH 350, FNH 351, FNH 450, and FNH 451.
