Bi, Mark

Graduating year: 2005
Degree: MA
Mark served Lilong New Media as Vice President of Operations. Prior to working with Lilong, Mark was Director of Operations at Relay China, a subsidiary of the advertising company Publicis Groupe – considered to be one of the top three advertising companies in the world.


Birgbrager, Alyssa

Graduating year: 2013
Degree: BKin
Alyssa currently works as an Athletic Therapist at Bishops University in Quebec. She is always excited to go to work; every day presents new challenges, fresh opportunities, and she is kept on her toes. As a certified Athletic Therapist, Alyssa provides preventative prophylactic care and emergency response in the field setting and injury assessment and rehabilitation in the clinic setting.


Bishop, Carole

Graduating year: 1973
Degree: BPE
With the national team, Carole competed in the Olympics, Pan-American games, World championships and North American championships. In European tournaments she was the MVP in 1975 and 1976, the latter year she was ranked the fourth best setter in the world.


Blackman, Chris

Graduating year: 1997
Degree: MHK
In the early 90’s Chris started his Masters in Human Kinetics, and he looked forward to working in the field of mental skills training / sport psychology with coaches and athletes at a professional level. However, when he realized it would mean having to complete a PhD to continue down this road, he rerouted his plans. By using the sport connections he had made through his volunteer and work experience Chris found his way into sports management.


Britton, Joshua

Graduating year: 2015
Degree: BKin
Josh interned with the Vancouver Whitecaps as an athletic therapist during his last 2 years at UBC. “It wasn’t until I was in my last year of KIN that I committed to pursuing medical school. And I studied for the MCAT the year after graduating while I worked as a personal trainer with Innovative Fitness in Kitsilano.”


Brown, Dylan

Graduating year: 2014
Degree: BKin
Through his terms in co-op, Dylan found an interest in sport management and coordination. Through working in a variety of roles in the sports field, Dylan narrowed his interested to Physical Literacy and positive experiences, specifically for children, in sport. Over time, he moved from a hands-on approach, to a position in management to have a greater positive effect on children and the community.


Brown, May (1919-2019)

Graduating year: 1961
Degree: MPE
For decades May has been an advocate for UBC sports particularly women’s field hockey and swimming both of which she coached at UBC during the late 1940s and early 1950s. She has reached such esteem that UBC has created the May Brown Trophy which is awarded annually to the Outstanding Graduating Female Athlete of the Year.


Budd, Brian (1952-2008)

Graduating year: 1975
Degree: BPE
Born in Toronto but growing up in Delta, Brian was an all-around athlete entering UBC in 1970. In his first two years at UBC Budd swam for the Thunderbird swim team under coach Jack Pomfret. In his second year he focused on soccer and for four years played on the Thunderbird soccer team. In fact in 1974, Budd scored the winning goal in the CIS final game giving UBC the national soccer championship.


Butt, Debbie

Graduating year: 1989
Degree: BPE
One of Vancouver’s best known communication and community engagement professionals is 1989 UBC Kinesiology graduate Debbie Butt. Debbie, who as a student played Thunderbird Varsity soccer, specializes in the areas of fundraising, event planning, brand development, employee engagement and community partnerships.


Carkner, Bob (1935-2009)

Graduating year: 1958
Degree: BPE
Bob Carkner was a man with visions; visions of helping others while at the same time broadening the horizons and raising the social conscience of young people.
