Your First Year Experience

Moving from high school to university or transferring from another program or institution can be a big transition, but we’re here to help.

We have a team of students, staff, and faculty here to welcome you to our KINmunity and introduce you to a variety of experiences and resources to help support your academic and personal development and make the most out of your time in UBC KIN.

Orientation to UBC Kinesiology

Jump Start

Join us for a five-day orientation program designed to introduce first-year students to the University, your faculty, and new friends. Whether you’re an international or domestic student, Jump Start is for you! The program runs for a week at the end of August/start of September. You can find more details at the webpage here.

Imagine UBC Day

Tuesday, September 5th, 2023! The first day of classes is replaced with Imagine UBC. The entire UBC community comes together to welcome new students and celebrate the beginning of the new academic year. You’ll be paired with an Orientation Leader and grouped with students from similar classes.  You’ll have a chance to make friends and meet our Director, professors, and senior students from the School.

Find and Build Community in UBC Collegia

All first-year UBC Vancouver students who do not live in residence are welcome to sign up to the UBC Collegia program. UBC Vancouver’s Collegia are designed for you to ask questions to peers and upper-year students, access resources, and enjoy social events together.
