Kiloh, Bruce

Graduating year: 1973
Degree: BPE
Bruce played both UBC varsity soccer and varsity football the latter under a coach Bruce still admires, the late Frank Gnup. Following a serious football injury Bruce became the student manager of the Thunderbird football team followed by being elected president of the UBC Big Block Club and of UBC Men’s Athletics. Kimoto, Ray

Graduating year:1965
Degree: BPE
Ray graduated from UBC having played Thunderbird tennis and baseball., the latter under legendary UBC coach Frank Gnup. This was the “early era” of UBC baseball which produced many good players, memories and stories.


Kinghorn, Marilyn Peterson

Graduating year: 1961
Degree: BPE
At UBC she was considered one of the city’s top basketball players as she was selected to the team representing BC at the 1959 national championships. In 1960 she was a key member of UBC’s first Western Canadian women’s asketball champions, a title she and her teammates would win again in 1961.


Kloos, Kate

Graduating year: 2010
Degree: MHK
Despite her challenges, her post-secondary studies motivated her to improve sports experiences for individuals and communities in her future career. She graduated with a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of New Brunswick, with a focus on coaching education, and went on to complete a Diploma in University Teaching in 2021. Currently, Kate is interested in researching politics in coaching and sport leadership. She hopes to carry on with her research and professional development in teaching university students, and to continue learning about leadership, project and change management, in education.


Kopecky, Igor

Graduating year: 2019
Degree: MHPCTL
Igor Kopecky has been a coach and athlete for the past 35 years, and is currently the technical director for BC Diving and the South Surrey White Rock Diving Club. Igor has coached at the World Cup, World Series, South American Championships, Commonwealth Games, World Junior Championships and the Pan Am Games.


Kouvousis, Christina

Graduating year: 2017
Degree: BKin
Christina Kouvousis is a Sport Development Coordinator at Water Polo West and coaches for the Provincial Training Centre and Team BC programs. She is a certified Competitive Coach and previously trained as a Learning Facilitator and Coach Evaluator to teach coaching courses.


Kriitmaa, Kolin

Graduating year: 2001, 2004
Degree: BHK, MHK
Working in a position highly involved in the world of professional sports and high profile athletes, Kolin performs a job many only wish they could pursue. It is, however, as Kolin states, not that simple. Describing his position as “what you make of it … little bit of management, little bit of entrepreneur, little bit of get your hands dirty and do the jobs that no one else wants to do,” the job is not without its pressures.


Labelle, Dominic

Graduating year: 2018, 2020
Degree: HPCTL, MHPCTL
Dominic Labelle is currently in charge of the “Under 12 and Under 10” tennis Program at the Academy Aliassime. He has coached at the university, provincial and national level across the country. He has also worked for Tennis Canada’s Under 10 camps.


Lam, Joyce

Graduating year: 2017
Degree: BKin
In 2015, Joyce began working as a Work Learn student in the Frontotemporal Dementia Research Program at UBC Hospital. This experience served as a jumpstart into her career in academic research – not only did she gain valuable insight into working and conducting research in a clinical setting, but she learned much about neurodegenerative diseases, and was able to expand her network in the field of neurology.


Laycoe, Bob (1947-2020)

Graduating year: 1969
Degree: MPE
Bob was an inspirational player on the Thunderbird football team while competing on UBC’s wrestling team, a team that won Western Canadian and Canadian university championships.
