A delegation from Beijing Sport University (BSU) visited The UBC School of Kinesiology and toured UBC Campus March 30 to April 1, 2017.
Well-known for turning out some of China’s most prestigious athletes, BSU visited UBC in order to strengthen the relationship between institutions and to encourage future cooperation in the areas of research and education.
The delegation (consisting of Mr. Yang Hua, Chancellor of Beijing Sport University; Mr. Cang Hai, Deputy Director, Sports Rehabilitation Department; Mr. Wang Liangyu, Deputy Director of Supervisory and Audit Office; and Ms. Hong Bin, International Program Officer, Foreign Affairs Office) met with Director of the School of Kinesiology, Dr. Robert Boushel, to sign the Official Statement of Cooperation.
“Beijing Sport University is an impressive, global leader in Sport. We are excited to be a formal partner on research and teaching programs,” says Dr. Boushel of the burgeoning relationship.
The collaboration is set to launch with the first cohort of students arriving from BSU to attend the Vancouver Summer Program in Kinesiology at UBC in July 2017.
The partnership is expected to further expand to include academic programs geared towards the 2022 Winter Olympics; aspiring to an exchange between lecturers and graduate students in areas of Sport Rehabilitation, Coaching and Physiology.
This collaboration will allow the UBC School of Kinesiology to reach and serve a larger segment of the global population, expanding the scope of international engagement.
